16th Anniversary Gala – Museum of Fine Art
November 17 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
16th ANNIVERSARY of the BMFA!
The Brownsville Museum of Fine Art cordially invites you to our 16th Anniversary celebration with the opening exhibitions of “Franchute” from the private collection of Solaris, and “Tone Poems” by Alan Hollander.
Mr. Garcia, a Brownsville native, who is proud of his Mexican heritage is pleased to share his love of both cultures with some his favorite art pieces from his vast collection. He has collected pieces from Yaacov Agam, Peter Max, Nelson de la Nuez, Mr. Brainwash, Franchute, Tarkay, and Francisco Toledo to name a few.
Mr. Hollander, a New York native, with a life-long passion for the fine arts will be showcased. Mr. Hollander attended the School of Visual Arts in New York and has enjoyed a distinguished career as an art director and graphic designer in New York, Massachusetts, and Texas.
The museum has suffered significant decrease in operation resources due to the Covid-19 pandemic ultimately impacting museum revenue sources. Despite limited funding, I am proud that the museum has continued to provide quality exhibitions with a reduced staff and limited volunteers.
The various exhibitions, educational art programs, and cultural enrichment for children and adults are funded mainly through grants, donations, and our members’ support. The day-to-day operational expenses, including staff salaries, are funded through sponsorships and generous donations received during the Gala celebration.
The Museum’s Annual Gala is scheduled for Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 6:30 pm. The evening will include dinner, silent auction and live auction, musical entertainment as well as “Meet the Artist” events. The following day, Alan Hollander will be the guest speaker at our first “Meet the Artist”. More information will be available the night of the Gala.
