Brownsville Beerfest invites you to “Gringo De Mayo”, an avocado-inspired bites and tequila cocktails sampling event, at Market Square, Downtown Brownsville, on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, from 6 PM – 9 PM.
Local restaurants and bars will create and serve all drink and food samples.
Local restaurants and bars will compete for the best avocado dish and tequila cocktail.
Food and drinks are included while the supply lasts.
Donations:
Single Ticket: $40/ea
Two Tickets: $70
At the door: $50ea
A convenience fee will apply for all online sales.
Gringo De Mayo originated a few years back, and it came from the mind of our late friend Jeff “Lighting” Lewis. The story goes that Jeff convinced the Brownsville Beerfest founders to host an event on Cinco De Mayo to help “promote” our annual Beerfest event. The board thought it was a great idea and moved forward with the event. During this event, Jeff thanked the founders for throwing him a “Gringo de Mayo” party. When asked what he was referring to, he replied with the biggest smile, “Today is my birthday!” After a few seconds, we realized Jeff had tricked us into throwing him a birthday party. He coined it “Gringo de Mayo.” We all then had great laughs followed by birthday hugs for Jeff as we knew then that a new tradition was born.
This fundraising event benefits the Brownsville Historical Association, an organization Jeff Lewis dearly loved.
