Solespective Exhibit

Solespective is an exhibit of representational portraiture using a mix of footwear design and creative artistry to capture the story or “sole” of its subjects. Footwear as a symbol or representation of an indivdual is very relevant as it is usually a conscientious choice made by the wearer through which to live their life that can express both pragmatic and aesthetic identities.

The exhibit is divided into two sections of “introspective” and “extraspective” shoe portraits. The introspective will offer a view of the artist’s interior life whereas the extraspective will offer an impression of the portrait sitter’s interior life through the eyes of the artist. None the less, both types of shoe portraits invite the audience into an interaction that calls upon shared experiences from the human condition that can feel relatable and even vulnerable.
