Day 1

When you arrive in our city, do not forget to stop by our Visitor Service Center. We will be ready to inform you with all the necessary information to enjoy your stay and give you maps, recommend historical locations and romantic areas to enjoy as a couple. If you need additional information during your trip and do not have time to visit our Visitor Center, do not hesitate to write to us on our social networks, call us or send us a text message; we will be happy to help you.

If you do not have a hotel reserved, we will give you our most romantic recommendations for you. Starting with the Staybridge hotel, its hydrotherapy service and elegant vibes will have the perfect environment for your weekend. Since we are talking about romanticizing, we can tell you that La Quinta Inn will meet your expectations. In case you have a fixed budget and do not want your wallet to suffer a lot, we recommend our Motel 6 suites where they can offer you comfort and simplicity to your stay.

There’s no better way to start the adventure than enjoying a delicious meal! After being in our Visitor Center or your hotel, we recommend you to have breakfast or lunch at our closest and busiest restaurant Toddle In. This restaurant located at 1740 Central Blvd will fill your heart and feed your soul with the delicacies they offer. You will find tacos and delicious coffee for only $ 1.99! We also have the 911 Cafe to enjoy flour tortillas, hot champurrado, chilaquiles, and eggs. This restaurant has 3 locations within the city, so the one closest to you will be your best option.

Ok, we know you are just arriving, but you cannot miss at least one or two activities today. Come to enjoy calm and healthy at The Carriage House Day Spa for a foot massage, a face scrub, or a romantic couples massage. This location is open from Monday to Friday 9-7p.m., Saturday 9:00 – 5:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday and Monday. Spas… not your thing? Stop by with our friends at Gladys Porter Zoo and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon with the gorillas or the funny capuchin monkeys. We are sure that they will not touch your face, only your heart.

After an afternoon full of fun, what do you think if going to the party for a bit? Enjoy Noche Mexicana at 6:00 p.m. in our Amigoland Event Center, where you can enjoy authentic and unique Mexican regional music.

If you and your partner want something more private, we have our local recommendation Dodici Pizza & Wine, where you can enjoy delicious Italian food accompanied by red wine. Its excellent service and Italian atmosphere will make you want to stay and talk about life together with your partner.

Day 2

Ready to continue your romantic adventure? We do! We are prepared to accompany you in this madness of love and life.

Are you tired of all the party last night and woke up late? Don’t worry; we have the perfect thing for you. Take your partner by the hand and get ready for a picnic at Resaca de la Palma. You can go through everything you need at Bocata where they can offer you delicious sandwiches, drinks, salads, and desserts to enjoy the day and afternoon.

If you want to know more about Resaca de la Palma, we recommend you rent a pair of bicycles in BCycle located in three locations which you will find in the link indicated under its name. These bicycles will take you to all your major destinations, and you will be able to enjoy the landscapes in the city outdoors. If you decide to take a bike or your car, don’t forget to visit our murals with a modern and touristy touch for your souvenir photos.

If your day is still full of love and you would like to continue having that feeling, we invite you to have fun at our Charro Days Carnival! You will find various fun games to enjoy with your partner as children. This carnival will help you free your mind, forget about stress, smile, and feel that energy from your childhood. If you are willing to spend your afternoon/night at our carnival, do not forget to buy yourself a delicious smoked turkey leg accompanied by our favorite local drink, do you know? You are right, DR. PEPPER! You cannot miss this unique opportunity to give you the best of both worlds, food and fun.

Day 3

By today, you may have already fallen in love with our community and would like to stay longer. We know we can be very welcoming to our visitors. We hope you wake up early this morning and enjoy a delicious Arado’s-style breakfast. This restaurant located in our Historic Downtown offers you a typical Mexican breakfast. They are experts in giving an authentic Mexican experience for your palate! Flour tortillas with barbacoa, Mexican eggs, or an omelet will make you wake up in the best way.

If you are looking for another recommendation, we have Ricardo’s, which offers you a different menu every day; therefore, your experience will be unique and unrepeatable. Allow yourself to try their chilaquiles or entomatadas for breakfast. You will not regret it.

Mexican singer and actress, Itati Cantoral, Mr. Amigo 2015

After having a delicious and filling breakfast, join us to enjoy our great Charro Days International Parade event that will take place at 1 p.m. on our main avenue 455 E Elizabeth St. This avenue is closed in its entirety so that our local families and visitors can receive with enthusiasm what the City of Brownsville has to offer together with its neighboring Matamoros friends. In this parade, you will hear the voices of our local singers, and you will see typical attire and dances from all Mexican regions.

Remember that this weekend is all about the party and you cannot stay out of it! Now that the parade is over, you may want to continue the party for just the two of you. Go and have fun at Terra’s Urban Mexican Restaurant! This bar with a menu especially for cocktails will make you say, “I want more.”
