The City of Brownsville has begun preliminary preparation of its budget and needs to know whether your organization will be requesting HOT funds for the coming fiscal year. The city fiscal year runs from October 1 to September 30.
The city has provided an explanation of the requirements of HOT funds in the request for information. Your application should reference how your organization, program or activity is complying with state law.
The request for information is divided into the following sections:
- Overview of Hot Funds
- Program or Project Description
- Description of Promotion of Tourism or Hotel Occupancy
- Description of Participation in Required Activities
- Budget Questions
- Budget Worksheet (Excel)
Application Process and Timeline
The HOT Funds Committee determines program eligibility. The following city departments serve as liaisons: the City Manager’s Office, City of Brownsville Finance Department, City of Brownsville Convention & Visitors Bureau and Office of Space Commerce, and the Grants and Community Development Department.
The City will accept applications from groups and businesses whose program fits into one or more of the above categories.

The HOT Funds Eligibility Committee meet to review applications after all applications have been submitted by or on the deadline as defined in the call for applications. Funding is subject to availability and at the discretion of the City Commission.
