From February 24th to March 2nd, 2024, enjoy the annual and binational fiesta that celebrates the Mexican heritage on both sides of the Rio Grande Valley!
Charro Days is a celebration between two border cities, Brownsville, Texas, and Matamoros, Tamaulipas. Every year, we receive more than 50,000 attendees.
This fiesta, includes daily parades, food, music, contests, and the Sombrero Festival!
Who is Mr. Amigo?
The Mr. Amigo Association has the tradition to celebrate the shared culture, friendship and family of Brownsville and Matamoros. To enjoy the traditions and history that unite us bringing “The Valley” and “La Frontera” closer together, serving as an example for our two countries. On August 2023, we had the honor of recognizing Alexander Acha as our Mr. Amigo 2023! His outstanding contributions to our community and his dedication to fostering positive international relationships have truly made him an amigo to all. Join us in celebrating this well-deserved recognition!
Mr. Amigo is a title given to a Mexican citizen who had contributed to the friendship of the United States and Mexico.

Sombrero Festival
When we say this is the most fun time of the year,
we mean it!
In addition to our parade, delicious food, and contests, our Charro Days also include the Sombrero Festival!
Since 1986, Sombrero Festival has enhance the spirit of Charro Days through family-friendly events. From Tortilla Frisbee Toss to Live Music events with classic rock, country, and cover bands!
